Earlier this month, Tesla and SpaceX Musk's CEO announced the baby boy's birth in a Twitter post, revealing that his son was called "X-A-12 Musk."

However, speculation has been raised that this unusual nickname could be against the law in California, where the couple lives, as the names can only use the 26 alphabetical characters of the English language, according to the state constitution.

On Sunday, Grimes posted a new photo on Instagram, which drew comments from fans.

"Did you change the baby's name because of California laws? What's the baby's new name?" asked one Twitter user in the comments of the last post.

"X-A-Xii" responded to the singer, without confirming the reason for the change.

The singer also responded to another comment, saying "Roman numerals. It looks better tbh."

Grimes had previously broken down the meaning of the name for intrigued fans.

The Canadian musician -- whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher -- explained that "X" means "the unknown variable."
As for ''O'', it is the elven spelling of AI, which is the abbreviation for 'artificial intelligence' and the word for 'love' in several languages, including Japanese.

"A-12" - precursor to the SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Superb in combat, but not violent, she added.

The name's "A" also represents "Archangel," which she described as her favorite song.

Fans were also intrigued by the pronunciation of the name, and the happy couple seems to have different interpretations.
"It's just X, like the letter X. Then A.I. Like the way you said the letter A and then I," Grimes wrote in response to a query on Instagram.

However, Musk told podcast host Joe Rogan a different pronunciation of the name.

"I mean it's just X, the letter X. And then, the "Ash" is pronounced. and then, A-12, A-12 is my contribution," he said.

X-A-Xii is the couple's first child. Musk has five other children twins Griffin and Xavier and triplets Damian, Saxon and Kai from a previous marriage.
